Andrew is a Technician with a speciality in understanding and maintaining the electrical installations and control systems.
As a Technician, Andrew is responsible for the day to day operation of specialist laboratories, as well as pilot scale energy research equipment and plants. He helps to monitor and maintain a range of pilot scale research equipment, as well as developing, constructing and refining experimental systems, apparatus, or equipment according to specification for research, and developing or adapting new technology to make it suitable for use.
His role includes heavier electrical installations, panel wiring, safety circuits and programming, and he provides technical support to all aspects of the facilities operations.
Andrew has 12 years of experience working for the Pilot Scale Advanced Carbon Capture research centre (PACT), the forerunner to the Translational Energy Research Centre. Prior to that Andrew has provided support for a number of research projects for the Ministry of Defence. He has specialist knowledge of hydraulic systems, thermodynamics, electronics, instrumentation and advanced aviation fuel technologies.
