As Research Associate in Future Gas Turbine Combustion, Ihab is primarily involved in the delivery of projects outputs for a UKRI-EPSRC Program grant (LITECS). His main research works towards establishing a new Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) experimental capability to support the design and development of future gas turbine combustion systems with high efficiency and low emissions.
Ihab is directly involved in developing experimental methods for evaluating and understanding the performance of future gas turbine combustion system concepts, and also oversees the installation, commissioning, and modification of experimental facilities such as the APU, working closely with University technical staff and external contractors.
His work also includes evaluating methods and techniques used, and results obtained, by other researchers, and supports on the health and safety of his area of expertise.
Ihab has worked on topics related to the effect of alternative fuels on combustion, emissions, seals performance, vibrations and acoustics. His research interests also include hydrogen combustion, combustors design, combustion dynamics and particulate matter emissions. He has published several research papers concentrating on emissions and vibrations as well as combustion performance of alternative jet fuels.
